The race brought U.S. and local communities across Okinawa together to take part in friendly competition. Racers on road bikes completed five laps around Camp Kinser’s base for a total of 42 km. The demonstration was part of a cultural exchange between Combat Logistics Regiment 35, 3rd Marine Logistics Group, III Marine Expeditionary Force and members of the Japan Ground Self-Defense Force, 15th Brigade. The Marines taught the JGSDF wrist locks, arm bar from the mount and disarming techniques. Hundreds of people gather to watch the performance “The Picture Scrolls of the Three Great Urasoe Kings” during the 40th Annual Tedako Matsuri Festival July 22 in Urasoe City, Okinawa, Japan. This festival is a way for the community to pay respects to King Eiso, a powerful king of the Ryukyu Kingdom.
