Okinawa Marines Photos
MCIPAC Communication Strategy and Operations

Jan 17, 2018

CAMP HANSEN, OKINAWA, Japan – Kumiko Tamashiko teaches Lance Cpl. Jon Fulwider how to hold a calligraphy brush at the library Jan. 8 aboard Camp Hansen, Okinawa, Japan. Each of the Marines spent the first half of the class practicing holding the brushes vertically between their thumb and middle finger. At first, Marines gripped the paint brush too hard, causing their lines to be jerky and jagged. Tamashiko would guide their brushes until their grip relaxed. Tamashiko is a library technician at the Camp Hansen Library. Fulwider is a transmissions system operator with 9th Engineer Support Battalion, 3rd Marine Logistics Group, III Marine Expeditionary Force. (U.S Marine photo by Lance Corporal Tayler P. Schwamb)
