MCAS FUTENMA, OKINAWA, Japan— Lance Cpl. Abraham Espinoza plays pool during the 6th Marine Corps Air Station Futenma English Discussion class party Aug. 15 at the United Service Organization building on MCAS Futenma, Okinawa, Japan. The class, not only teaches English, but also helps bridge the local and military communities better understand each other’s cultures. The class is constantly introducing different cultural traditions such as, Eisa, the traditional drum performance and Sanshin, a three stringed Okinawan musical instrument. Espinoza is a class volunteer and a warehouse clerk with Marine Aircraft Group 36, 1st Marine Aircraft Wing, III Marine Expeditionary Force.
