Members of Team Futenma dance onstage Aug. 3 at the Ginowan City Marine Park during the 26th annual Hagoromo Kachashi Dance Competition. The team enjoyed the opportunity to take part in traditions unique to Okinawa, according to Tess M. The procedure is called a tape and line, and enables explosive ordnance disposal technicians to defuse a bomb from a safe distance. The scenario is one of eight meant to test the skills of EOD technicians from the U.S. Marine Corps and Army. Sgt. Jacob J. Baumann pulls a Humvee May 16 during the Highland Games at the parade deck on Camp Hansen. The final event of the games tested the limits of the Marines’ strength as they pulled the vehicle, which was harnessed to them, 20 feet with only a rope secured to a 7-ton truck as assistance. Baumann is a Junction City, Kan., native and fire support man with 12th Marine Regiment, 3rd Marine Division, III Marine Expeditionary Force. - Sgt. Jacob J. Cuevas, a native of Fayetteville, N.C., presents a plaque to the Meio University Football Club coach to thank the team for participating in a soccer match May 11 on Camp Courtney. The Marines that participated in super squad had the chance to shoot while walking and after pivoting for part of the course. The Marines are with Headquarters and Service Battalion, Marine Corps Base Camp Smedley D.
