An FA-18C Hornet makes an arrested landing using the M31 Marine Corps Expeditionary Arresting Gear System Sept. 15 at Tinian's West Field during Exercise Valiant Shield 2014. Arresting gear is used in order to land pilots in a short amount of space, or during an emergency. A heavy equipment operator uses a 624 KR tractor, rubber tire, articulated, multipurpose, also known as a bucket loader, to knock over a tree at West Field, Tinian, Aug. 31 during Exercise Valiant Shield. FF II is a joint exercise designed to employ and assess combat power generation in a deployed and austere environment. Chemical Biological Radiological Nuclear Defense Marines conducted annual unit-level training to exercise specific unit capabilities and cross train other Marines from sections.
