Gunnery Sgt. Shane R. Bertrand, from Ontario, Oregon, helps children put together paper pilgrim and American Indian hats Nov. 23 during the second annual Thanksgiving celebration with Tai Chu En Children’s Home at the Camp Kinser Chapel. This was the second annual Thanksgiving event with the children’s home and the Marines and sailors with Combat Logistics Regiment 35. Following the crafts, the children and volunteers sat down for a Thanksgiving feast including turkey, corn and pumpkin pie. Gov. Eloy S. Inos, left, and Rear Adm. Tilghman Payne present ceremonial wreaths June 15 at Saipan during a the 70th Anniversary Reunion of Honor ceremony. The ceremony marked a milestone of peace in the region and to paid tribute to both U.S. and Japan veterans of the battles of Saipan and Tinian during World War II. During the ceremony, representatives from each branch of the U.S. military were present along with WWII veterans who served at Tinian and Saipan.
