Solar panels for the Ground Renewable Expeditionary Energy System gather energy to provide power to the command center Nov. 4 during the exercise Blue Chromite 15 on Camp Schwab. The solar panels supplied the initial 24 hours of power for the Combat Operations Center during Chromite and have continued to power the communications systems. A watermelon salsa, known as “Fire and Ice,” was one of many dishes offered as a healthy alternative July 2 at Camp Foster’s commissary during the Healthy Lifestyle Festival. The event featured free food, music, healthy giveaways and fun events for participants. The training consisted of cliff rappelling, fast-rope rappelling, and rope-bridge crossing. The Marines are with various units assigned to III Marine Expeditionary Force. By this point in the course, the Marines carried the casualty close to a mile over steep hills and harsh jungle terrain, according to Maj. Tim Kao. The Marines are with various units assigned to Combat Assault Battalion, 3rd Marine Division, III Marine Expeditionary Force.
