A security post stands inside the concertina wired perimeter of a forward operations base Feb. 3 on Ie Shima, Okinawa, Japan. Marines with 9th Engineer Support Battalion, 3rd Marine Logistics Group, III Marine Expeditionary Force performed a field training exercise Jan. 25 to Feb. 4. The purpose of the exercise was to test the unit’s ability to deploy and command and control ability over a wide area. Japan Ground Self-Defense Force members with the Special Weapons Protection Unit remove clothing from a casualty during an exercise Dec. 1 at Camp Naha, Okinawa. The casulty went through an immediate evacuation from the area prior to being treated. Participating U.S. Marine chemical, biological, radiological and nuclear defense specalists then wrapped the casualty in a blanket and went through the full decontamination process.
