Kinser Elementary School 4th graders do ammo-can lifts Dec. 10 during Warrior Day on Camp Kinser. “The purpose of the Warrior Day is to provide the students of Kinser Elementary School an opportunity to conduct training similar to what their parents do,” said Staff Sgt. Tracie Mahan, from Fort Madison, Iowa. Bertrand, from Ontario, Oregon, helps children put together paper pilgrim and American Indian hats Nov. 23 during the second annual Thanksgiving celebration with Tai Chu En Children’s Home at the Camp Kinser Chapel. This was the second annual Thanksgiving event with the children’s home and the Marines and sailors with Combat Logistics Regiment 35. Following the crafts, the children and volunteers sat down for a Thanksgiving feast including turkey, corn and pumpkin pie. Common skills challenges were located at each point on the map to include how to call in a medical evacuation and assembling the M249B squad automatic weapon. Dividing into seven groups, the Marines ran together in search of their next station so they could accomplish the mission. The battalion hosted the luau to provide Marines and family members an opportunity to come together as a battalion and celebrate the start of summer.
